Our Projects

Fiji

In 1994 Ray returned to Fiji for a 20-year school reunion and while he was there he saw children attending the same school he did, using the same encyclopedias and books from the 60s. He saw families struggling financially to be able to send their kids to school, in some cases only being able to afford to send 1 of their kids. He found it heartbreaking to even think about having to make such a decision.

As he was flying home he realized how incredibly fortunate he was, to have a passport that is accepted all over the world, to live in a country where he was able to go after anything he dreamed of.

He made a promise to myself sitting on the plane that he would do whatever I could to help from that day on. When he arrived home he immediately organized to send a container with a small tractor, bakery, a small sawmill and a welder so that the school could have a secondary income other than just school fees and so that the kids could learn how to bake bread, weld, cut lumber from the trees in the forest behind the school, make furniture, and plant commercial gardens.

The goal was to have the kids be able to work 2 hours a day after school, so they could learn a trade and help pay for part of their school fees and it worked, the school fees were cut by more than half. The school went from 65 kids to over 300 in a few short years.

Our current projects in Fiji are the shipping in containers of aid to help alleviate the suffering the disadvantaged are facing. We are also in Partnership with Maranatha International and Adventist Service Industries, we are assisting the Seventh Day Adventist church in Fiji with 37 new church buildings.

Swaziland has over 40% HIV positive population and this has left over 100,000 orphans to try and fend for themselves. Our focus has been to help them with their immediate physical needs and then try to address some long term solutions to their problem.

We have acquired a piece of land in central Swaziland and built a new distribution and industry warehouse. This is where we ship the containers to and distribute from, at the same time the building and its adjoining 14 rooms are being used for training purposes.

There can be 25 to 85 people who come to the site to train in different job skills. We operate various businesses ranging from Cement Block building, Sawmill work, fruit Jams, Sewing classes and other things which help the people there to learn a skill that enables them to go out from our site and provide for themselves.

Our current project in Swaziland is shipping in containers of Clothes, food, and other items to help meet the immediate needs of the children and elderly that are victims of the HIV epidemic in their country. We are also working to build orphan care centers 20ft x 38ft so that the children have a safe place to come in out of the sun or rain to eat, play and learn. Along with this initiative we are working on a plan to be able to drill wells at each location where we erect a care center.
